Terms of Service

These terms cover how you use particl.art. By signing up or embedding our code on your site, you agree to them. They’re short on purpose.

Who we are

particl.art is an independent tool that turns images into interactive particle animations you can embed on any website. It’s built and operated by an independent developer. You can reach us at hey@particl.art.

Your account

You sign in with Google to get access to the editor and your projects. Creating an account is free and takes one click.

You’re responsible for keeping your account secure. If you think someone else has access to it, email us immediately and we’ll help you lock it down.

We can suspend or remove accounts that abuse the service, break these terms, or host content that violates the content rules below. We’ll tell you why.

What you can upload

You can upload any image you own, have a license to use, or that’s available under a licence that permits this kind of use.

You cannot upload content that:

• infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark, or other IP rights,
• is sexually explicit, violent, or depicts minors in any compromising way,
• promotes hate, harassment, or real-world violence against a person or group,
• contains malware, phishing links, or anything designed to harm visitors to your site,
• violates the law in your jurisdiction or ours.

If we find content that breaks these rules, we’ll remove it. Repeated violations get your account suspended.

Your content stays yours

Anything you upload - images, project settings, custom morph sources - stays yours. We don’t claim ownership of it, we don’t use it to train AI, we don’t sell it.

To actually run the service we need a narrow licence from you: permission to store your content, process it through our particle engine, and serve it back to anyone who loads a published embed URL. That’s it. The licence ends when you delete the content.

Published embeds

When you publish an embed, we give you a script tag and an iframe URL that anyone can paste on any site. By publishing, you’re making that animation publicly accessible at that URL. We don’t gate embed URLs behind authentication.

Embeds are served with Cache-Control: max-age=300, which means updating a published embed can take up to five minutes to propagate to visitors.

Pricing and plans

There are two plans: Free and Pro. Current prices and plan limits are listed at particl.art/pricing. You’ll see the exact amount before you’re charged.

Billing is handled by Dodo Payments, our payment processor. We don’t store your card details; they do. Prices are shown in USD and may include applicable taxes at checkout.

Pro subscriptions renew automatically every month until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the billing page and keep using Pro features until the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for.

On the Free plan, published embeds work for 14 days. After that they stop rendering on your website until you upgrade to Pro. Your projects, settings, and uploaded files stay intact regardless of plan.

Refunds

Because subscriptions are month-to-month and you can cancel anytime, we don’t generally issue pro-rata refunds for unused time in a billing period - your access simply continues until the period ends.

If you’ve been charged by mistake, or something is clearly broken on our end and you can’t use the service, email hey@particl.art and we’ll sort it out.

What we can’t promise

particl.art is provided “as is” and “as available”. We try hard to keep it running but we can’t guarantee uninterrupted service, zero bugs, or that your published embeds will render identically on every device forever.

To the extent allowed by law, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. If something goes wrong and we’re responsible, our total liability is capped at what you’ve paid us in the last twelve months (or $100, whichever is greater).

Termination

You can close your account any time by emailing hey@particl.art.

We can close your account if you break these terms, repeatedly upload content that violates the rules, or try to abuse the service. We’ll give you the reason and, where practical, a chance to export your data first.

Closing your account stops all published embeds from loading. If you’ve embedded particl.art on a third-party site, that third-party site will show nothing in place of the animation.

Changes to these terms

If we make a meaningful change to these terms, we’ll email you (if you have an account) and update the effective date above. Small wording fixes don’t trigger a notice.
